Google mailboxes are authorized individually. Google does not require a separate organization-level authorization before mailboxes can be connected. Each personal or shared mailbox must complete its own Google sign-in and consent flow.

Before you begin

You will need:
  • Google enabled under Settings → Mail → Providers
  • Access to the Google account being connected
For a shared mailbox, the address must be a Google account capable of completing sign-in. A Google Group or alias without its own sign-in credentials cannot complete this flow.

Where to start

  1. Open Settings → Mail in the Stuut dashboard.
  2. Find Google in the Providers section.
  3. Ask an organization administrator to enable Google if it is disabled.
  4. Go to the Mailboxes section.
  5. Click Add mailbox to begin authorization for an individual mailbox.
There is no provider-wide Authorize button for Google. Authorization occurs when each mailbox is added.

How authorization works

  1. Select the type of mailbox you want to add.
  2. Choose Google as the provider.
  3. Sign into the specific Google account being connected.
  4. Review and approve the requested permissions.
  5. Return to Stuut and confirm that the mailbox appears as connected.
Connecting one Google mailbox does not authorize or connect other Google mailboxes.

Mailbox permissions

No Google Calendar or Contacts access is requested.

Connect a shared mailbox

  1. Open Settings → Mail.
  2. Click Add mailbox.
  3. Select Shared mailbox.
  4. Select Google.
  5. Continue to Google sign-in.
  6. Sign in using the shared account’s credentials—not your personal Google account.
  7. Review and approve the requested permissions.
  8. Return to Stuut and confirm that the mailbox is connected.
Shared Google mailboxes are not discovered automatically. Someone with access to the shared Google account must complete OAuth directly. If the mailbox initially appears under Personal mailboxes, open its actions menu and select Make shared.

Connect a personal mailbox

  1. Open Settings → Mail.
  2. Click Add mailbox.
  3. Select Personal mailbox.
  4. Select Google if prompted.
  5. Sign into your Google account.
  6. Review and approve the requested permissions.
  7. Return to Stuut and confirm that the mailbox appears as connected.
Each user must complete this process for their own personal mailbox.

Disconnect or revoke access

To stop using one mailbox, disconnect it from Settings → Mail. Existing communication history will be preserved. The account owner can also revoke access through the third-party access settings in their Google Account. Revoking Google access will stop Stuut from using that mailbox until it is authorized again.
