Payment Plans

Turn a past-due balance into a structured repayment plan with scheduled installments, automatic reminders, and paused dunning.
Payment Plans are enabled per organization. If you don’t see Payment Plans in your workspace, contact your CSM.
A payment plan turns a customer’s past-due balance into one structured repayment agreement, so your team chases scheduled installments instead of individual invoice due dates. For example, “Installment 3 of 10 — $20,000 due Friday.”Payment plans are built for customers with a large or delinquent balance that you still want to keep doing business with. These arrangements are often tracked by hand in spreadsheets today.A plan captures:
  • The open balance being paid down
  • A payment cadence (for example, weekly) and the number of installments
  • Optional headroom for the new sales you expect to keep extending to the customer during the plan
  • Guided plans — Stuut calculates the plan for you. The plan total is the open balance plus any expected new sales during the plan (average sales per period × number of periods). Stuut can suggest the average sales amount from the customer’s history. The total is split evenly across installments.
  • Custom plans — you set the plan amount yourself. Use this when you’ve negotiated specific amounts with the customer, or when the plan should cover specific invoices.
If the total doesn’t divide evenly, the leftover cents go on the last installment.
No. Payment plans are balance-based: they run against the customer’s total balance rather than being linked to individual invoices. Your invoices stay in Stuut for accounting and audit purposes. If a plan needs to match specific invoices, create a custom plan whose amounts equal those invoices.
Yes. You can save a plan as a draft and edit it freely, for example while you agree terms with the customer. Nothing changes on the account until you activate the plan.
Once a plan is active, regular dunning on the customer’s invoices pauses automatically. Your team, and Stuut’s reminders, focus on the plan’s installments instead. When the plan is completed, the pause lifts and regular outreach resumes.
When Payment Plans are enabled, four payment-plan reminder workflows are set up for your organization:
  1. Plan created — lets the customer know the plan and its schedule.
  2. Installment due soon — sent a few days before each installment (3 days by default).
  3. Installment due today — sent on the due date.
  4. Payment received — sent when an installment is marked as received.
The “due soon” and “due today” reminders are skipped if the installment is already marked received.By default, payment-plan emails are created as drafts for your team to review before sending. To send them automatically, turn on auto-send for the payment-plan workflows under Agent Settings → Payment Plans.
Go to Agent Settings → Payment Plans. You’ll see a list of the payment-plan workflows, when each one sends, and a toggle for each. The Configure button on the Payment Plans page takes you there too.Payment-plan templates have their own variables (installment amount, due date, amount remaining and more). The collector’s name is available under Sender variables.
Collectors mark each installment as received, with a confirmation step. Payment matching to installments is manual for now, so Stuut doesn’t mark installments paid from payment data automatically. Before an installment is due, Stuut creates a task reminding the assigned collector to check whether the payment arrived, so automated emails don’t go out based on stale information.
Not yet. To change an active plan’s amounts, dates, or number of installments, cancel it and create a new plan. Editing active plans is on the roadmap.
Any installments still unpaid when you complete a plan are marked canceled, and regular outreach resumes.
On the Customers page, filter to customers with an active payment plan.
The collector’s reminder task before each due date is your prompt to check whether the installment arrived and follow up if it hasn’t. Ask your CSM which missed-payment reminders are available for your workspace.
